Sometimes the best way to learn things is to take a good look at what others have already done. On this page you will find a collection of VenueMagic project files that were created specifically for Halloween light shows and haunted houses.  Each of them controls just a few lighting channels, but they show off a lot of audio and lighting capabilities that will help you get started on creating your own VenueMagic light shows.  Or, if you like, they’re really pretty good as they are, so feel free to use them however you like.

Each of these links will download a zip file with all of the project and timeline files for a single show.  The best thing to do is to create a new folder in your Documents\VenueMagic\Projects\ directory and extract the zipped files into that directory.  Then load the project file into VenueMagic and have some fun.

If you have created some shows of your own that you would like to add to this list, let us know about it at support@venuemagic.com.

Simple Haunted House (5:00)

Nothing fancy, just a collection of screams, howls and ghost with some lighting and thunder thrown in for good measure.  Uses three DMX dimmer channels for lightning.  A great way to get acquainted with simple VenueMagic show development.

Mad Scientist Lab (3:25)

The timeless story of a man who creates a monster, then gets devoured by same.  Includes lighting effects for electric arcs and zaps as well as lightning synchronized to thunder.  Utilizes four DMX channels.

Haunted  Mansion (9:00, includes additional music)

A random selection of screams, howls, ghosts and other sounds set to the traditional haunted soundtrack of Toccata and Fugue in D Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach (where would Halloween be without Bach).  Uses six DMX channels for various lighting effects including lightning, candles and moonlight moving in and out of clouds.  No discernible story line, though I’m sure you could come up with one of your own.

Haunted  Lighthouse (5:00)

The haunting tale of cruise ship that just got too close to the rocks.  Ignoring the fervent warnings of the lighthouse foghorn until it was too late, the ill-fated ship plowed into the jagged reef and sunk.  A violent explosion rattles the night air and frantic screams fade into the crashing surf as hundreds of lives are lost to the deep.  Many years later, on Halloween night you can still hear the moaning of their lost spirits and their frightful screams as they and their ghost ship relive (or perhaps ”redead”) that fateful night.  Uses six DMX channels to control synchronized lightning, and a steadily pulsing lighthouse effect.

Haunted  Forest (5:00)

As a distant storm approaches, creepy forest sounds are heard–some natural and some not–against a background of crickets as the monsters come out to play.  A northernly wind disturbs the calm midnight breeze, followed by a lightning storm with strange, bewitched thunder.  Then, all is quiet as the last monster returns to his liar, his heavy footsteps echoing in the night.  Uses four DMX channels to control synchronized lightning effects and moonlight that fades in and out as spooky clouds pass in front of it.
